Thursday.

Already.
How can it already almost be the weekend again?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, i LOVE weekends. I absolutely adore them.

My very favourite thing to do on a weekend is to get up when I wake up, take whatever book I happen to be reading at the time, and go and eat poached eggs on toast with mushrooms and a hashbrown for breakfast at the coffee shop around the corner from me. I usually have a couple of coffees, and sit for at least 2 hours, if not the entire afternoon. I don't talk to anyone, except small talk with the waiting staff (who all know me quite well), and I just simply relax.

Last weekend, the long weekend, I didn't get to do this. Morning, noon and night I was surrounded by friends and family, eating, shopping, drinking, dancing, and even a few hours of teaching. It seemed to me that I spent a grand total of about 5 1/2 minutes in my own company. The rest of the time I was surrounded by friends and family. This is always lovely, and I think many of them sensed that I needed people around me, as I really did find last week traumatic, but I do feel as though I missed the relaxing part of my weekend.

This week I have made a deal with myself for the weekend: I'll go out ONE night. Preferably Friday, and have the rest of the weekend to sleep, read, watch tv, eat and relax.

The trouble is that when I make deals like these, they most often don't eventuate, because last minute offers get the better of my will to relax!

where is this relaxed atmosphere cafe?

i live just near bridge rd and find that most are keen to kick you out once you've finished spending money
that's not true, there's only two that do that, but the others don't really have the 'homeliness' feel to them you know?

kiki said...

also, how do you know what school i went to???

It's in Middle Park... round the corner from my house. I agree with you that most are kicking you out before you've even finished eating, but this one is lovely. I find most of the ones by the beach are alot more relaxed than richmond or brunswick or many other places like that.

And i worked it out from the people you named... my twin bro went there too. It was Commons that gave it away.

Oh that, and i'm psychic. And brilliant.

kiki said...

so who's your twin bro??

i take it i know him

Tammiodo said...

I don't know if you know him.

He might have been in the year above you, I don't know.

kiki said...

we'll never know if you don't tell me...

there's a good chance though, as it was a small school*

*not a small school

Ooh this is fun. I like knowing things that other people don't know and hinting with small titbits of information...

K. First off... our surname is the surname of one of the houses at Scotch. and he was in that house.

What year did you finish?

Oh, and I think he might have been a bit of a nerd :-p

i finished 2002

1. his surname wouldn't be davidson, cause then i'd know.
2. selby-smith is a gay surname
3. fleming? doubt it
4. field? ibid
5. monash? ibid
6. morrison? very likely.
7. gilray? doubt it
8. forbes? ibid
9.
i forget the other three names
so for now i'm going with morrisson...
tell me his surname, cause my housemate was pretty geeky (pipe band) and i was like super cool AND super smart doing all year 12 subjects in year 11

Tammiodo said...

Haha. well it's not Morrison...

Our surname is Bond. And he finished in 2001.

i too have been to japan. how amazing is it?

Tammiodo said...

I am absolutely in love with Japan. Did you go there to ski? Where did you go?

Jase... care to weigh in on the Scotch situation...?

Anonymous said...

you two are talking about me. who ARE you kiki?

kiki said...

"care to weigh in on the Scotch situation...?"
i don't get it

yeah japan rocks. and i'm a firm believer that japanese food is so much better in japan
hell, it's even better in the UK- at the good places anyway

Tammiodo said...

yeh the weighing in on the scotch thing was directed at jase, not you kiki!

The japanese food was amazing. I was telling someone about it just the other day actually. I don't eat seafood, but everything else was delectable.

Where in Japan did you go?

alright kiki. i worked out who you are, but i dont think i know you.

kiki said...

i don't think i know you either

but sometimes i wish i was a detective

tammi- i've taken the liberty of drawing a map for you of the places i went

starts and ends at tokyo, follow the trail clockwise...
(hope the link works)

I think it would be awesome being a detective and connecting long-lost friends.... even if they didn't know each other to start off with...

That map is cool... you certainly got around a bit... how long were you there for?

I just went to Tokyo and Kyoto and then to Niseko to ski and spent a day in Sapporo on the way home. I'm going back again in Feb next year with a couple of other friends to ski again, and hopefully we're going to spend a week or so travelling around some more.

kiki said...

i was there for a little over two weeks
it mainly involved kareoke and me not understanding anything
but i loved it

i'm planning on going to switzerland at the end of the year to go skiing

Tammiodo said...

Hmm I'd like to go to Europe, but the cost involved in going for just a couple of weeks seems a bit silly to me. Hopefully sometime in the next few years I'm going to do a big year or more of travel all at once. For now, japan's close, not too expensive, and the snow is beautiful. Not only that, i'm in love with the people, the culture, the country, the food... so you could say I'm happy to settle to go there at the moment...

kiki said...

i'm planning on going for a few months...

Oh to be back at uni full-time...

Actually no, that's not quite true. I hated being at uni full-time.
